Checklist
for Settlement – Homebuyer/Refi Borrower
- Call BGE to establish new service in your name.
- Call the phone company to obtain new phone number.
- Arrange for your Homeowner's Policy insuring the new
property and mortgage lender effective the day of settlement.
Bring a copy with you.
- Bring driver's license and another form of identification.
- Bring certified/cashiers check payable to yourself in
the amount of your “Good Faith Estimate.” Please also bring
a personal check for any additional funds that may be needed.
In case of an overage, a refund check will be issued to
you.
- Bring original Termite Inspection with you.
- Contact the title company immediately if you need a Deed
pre-signed or if a Power of Attorney will be utilized.
- Send the title company a copy of the marriage certificate
for those who are recently married and/or adding your spouse
to title to the property.
- Send the title company a copy of the death certificate
for anyone who was previously in title to the property,
but are now deceased.
- If property is subject to Ground Rent, provide the title
company with the name, address and telephone number of
the Ground Rent owner.
The water bill, taxes and HOA dues will be pro-rated at the
settlement table. |
